Online safety and scams

Scams are getting more convincing. I'll help you make your devices safer and practise spotting the warning signs, without making it complicated.

The online safety check-up

£89 fixed price, 90-minute visit.

  • Updates on your phone, tablet and computer
  • Security codes on your email and most important accounts, so a stolen password isn't enough to get in
  • An introduction to a password manager, if you'd like one
  • Checking that your backups actually work
  • Practice at spotting scams, with real examples
  • Account recovery set up, so you can get back in if you're ever locked out
  • A written note to keep

You type your own passwords throughout. I don't see them, write them down or keep them.

Full details of the check-up

If you think you've been scammed

  1. Ring your bank straight away, using the number on the back of your card, or call 159, which connects you to most UK banks. Use a different phone if you can, or wait five minutes first, as scammers sometimes keep the line open.
  2. Forward scam texts to 7726. It's free, and it helps networks block them.
  3. Forward scam emails to report@phishing.gov.uk.
  4. Change the password on any account you think has been affected.

Then, if you'd like, ring me and I'll help you check your devices and make them safer. I'll help you contact your bank yourself, but I can't deal with the bank for you.
